Ed Buckley This is a set of pieces that sit comfortably in the interstices between Avant fusion and a style of jazz reminiscent of the late '60's. At times it reminds me of the jazz experiments of Soft Machine (think Fourths or 5, a la Elton Dean). At other times it reminds me of McLaughlin's Extrapolation. While at times the "out" parts wear a bit, it's me, not them. Thanks Dillon. :-)

Dillon Ethier Some absolutely excellent modern jazz. Sometimes it's a tad adventurous, and sometimes it tends a bit rock-ish, but the players maintain an impressively cohesive intensity throughout. Thanks to Chris Dinsmore and Tjarko Busink for the find. Highly recommended! Favorite track: BY PROXY.

Chris Dinsmore Ran across this album in Tjarko Busink's collection thank goodness because this band is really good. To quote a reviewer, "gritty be-bop mashed with hard bop, early electric Miles, ballads with sustained delicacy, rock riffs mixed with P-Funk grooves and with fresh departures into electronica. The richly lyrical and strongly melodic compositions provide the framework and starting point, underpinned by the rock solid, freewheeling and supercharged rhythm section." Favorite track: MBADGERS.
